Table of Contents:
1) Requirements
2) PHP Setup
3) MySQL Setup
4) Support

1) Requirements:
Naturally, since it's a DHTML and PHP guestbook, you need to have PHP
installed on your server, version 3.06 or later. Earlier versions might
work, but are not guaranteed to do so. It can be found, at no charge, at
<http://www.php.net>. You also need a DHTML-capable browser on your
client system to view the guestbook. That means Netscape Navigator
or Communicator, or Microsoft Internet Explorer, all version 4 or higher.
They can be downloaded, also free of charge, from <http://www.netscape.com>
or <http://www.microsoft.com>.
You also need the MySQL database server installed and correctly working
with PHP. If it is not installed already, it can be downloaded without
cost from <http://www.mysql.com>.

2) PHP Setup:
Most of setup is well-documented in each file, so presented here are only the
options that must be changed. All are found in variables.inc.

	The items that need to be changed are:
	$ext = the filename extension for PHP3 files on your server
	       If you use something other than "phtml", remember to change
	       the names of the *.phtml files, too.
	$myname = your MySQL username, also used as login for the edit page.
	$mypass = your MySQL password, also used for login for the edit page.
	$myhost = your MySQL hostname, normally "localhost"
	$mydb = the name of your MySQL database, see also Section 3, "MySQL Setup"

3) MySQL Setup:
If you don't already have a working MySQL database that you can use, contact your
system administator and ask him or her to set one up for you.
To set up the appropriate table, follow these steps:
	1. Run the MySQL monitor (either locally, or across telnet)
		ex. $ mysql -p
	2. Select your database
		ex. mysql> use databasename;
	3. Create the guestbook table. In the PHP code, it's called "guestbook".
	   If you want to change this, you'll have to manually edit the code.
	   This example has the correct column types, use others at your own risk.
		ex. mysql> create table guestbook (
	   	        -> id int not null primary key auto_increment,
	   	        -> Name varchar(30),
	   	        -> Email varchar(40),
	   	        -> Url varchar(100),
	   	        -> SiteName varchar(50),
	   	        -> Comment text,
	   	        -> BgColor varchar(10),
	   	        -> FontColor varchar(10),
	   	        -> PxLeft smallint(4),
	   	        -> PxTop smallint(4),
	   	        -> Nodrag tinyint(1)
	   	        -> );
	4. Confirm that it has been successful by inserting a few items.
	   They can be removed later.
	  	ex. mysql> insert into guestbook (
	  	        -> Name,Email,Url,SiteName,Comment,BgColor,FontColor,PxLeft,PxTop,Nodrag
	  	        -> ) values (
	  	        -> "Foo","foo@bar.com","http://www.bar.com","FooBar",
	  	        -> "FooBarFooBarFooBarFooBar","red","white",100,100,0
	  	        -> );
	5. If no errors have arisen thus far, you can view the values to see
	   what is in your database.
		ex. mysql> select * from guestbook;
	6. You're done.  Exit MySQL.
		ex. mysql> quit

4) Support:
The single fastest way to get support for this guestbook is to visit the
DHTML Forum at <http://www.bratta.com/dhtml/forum/> and post a message
under "DHTML Scripts". There are other ways, but they are neither guaranteed
to work nor as quick and effective as using the Forum.

Thanks for installing and using the eXperience DHTML and PHP guestbook!
