• Open the Server manager, go to Roles section, click Add roles, and check Web server (IIS) role.

• Select "ASP.NET" (or ASP.NET 4.5 for Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2) in Application Development section Click Next and follow the instructions.

Download and install .Net Framework 4.0 or .Net Framework 4.5.

If .Net Framework 4.0 has been already installed, you need either reinstall it or execute the following command as administrator.

On 32-bit system:

%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006\aspnet_regiis.exe -i
        

On 64-bit system:

%windir%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\aspnet_regiis.exe -i
        

Note! If you plan to use the integration with Box (see parameters EnableDownloadToBox, EnableUploadFromBox, BoxClientId, BoxClientSecret), necessarily verify whether the Update KB2468871 to .NET Framework 4 is installed, and if not, install it on the server with HTTP Commander (update details info: KB2468871).

• Important! Unblock HTTPCommanderAJS3.x.x.zip file.

  You need to unblock distribution archive if you use Internet Explorer browser. Internet Explorer blocks files downloaded from Internet (Windows Server 2008 security feature).

  Note! Application won't work if you forget to unblock the archive ('System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission' error)!
• Place HTTP Commander code on web server:
  • Open IIS server's root folder in Windows Explorer (by default it is c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\)
  • Extract the HTTP Commander zip archive to a new HTCOMNET folder inside the root folder. You can use any name for the folder or place it not in the root. In this manual we use such placement and name as default. Be sure that you unblocked ZIP archive before it extracting (See previous step)!

• Create "Application" in IIS:
  • Open IIS console: Control panel->Administrative tools->
    Internet Information Services->Expand "Sites" and then "Default web site"
  • Right-click the "HTCOMNET" folder and select "Convert to Application" in the context menu.
    In the new dialog box, click "ok".

• Check "Full trust" level:
  • In the IIS console in the right panel, open ".NET trust levels" and select "Full" in the list.
    Note! HTTP Commander also supports "Medium trust" but in this case you can provide access only to the folders inside the application root (HTCOMNET folder).

• Select version of Framework the application will run under
  • Open Application Pools in IIS Manager
  • Select HTTP Commander application pool. See How to detect application pool HTTP Commander runs under?.
  • Click "Basic Settings..." on Actions pane.
  • "Edit application pool" window appears
  • Select .NET Framework version in combobox.
  • Click OK button
• Check required NTFS permissions.
• Check URLScan ISAPI filter settings in IIS if it is installed.
  • Open IIS console: Control panel->Administrative tools ->
    Internet Information Services -> click on root -> find ISAPI filters

  • Double click on ISAPI Filters icon and in the opened list find the filter which name begins with UrlScan.
    If such filter it isn't found, UrlScan isn't installed, otherwise pass to the following step.

  • Pass into the folder with UrlScan executable file (by default, it is c:\Windows\system32\inetsrv\urlscan\) and open UrlScan.ini file for editing (for example in notepad).
    
  • In UrlScan.ini file find parameter AllowDotInPath and if value of this parameter not equally 1, set for it value 1 (AllowDotInPath=1), save UrlScan.ini file and restart IIS.
