How to update to PodHawk 1.7 from an earlier version of PodHawk

PLEASE NOTE : PodHawk 1.7 requires php 5 or later. It will not run on php 4.
If your server has php 4, use PodHawk 1.53.

###############################################################

First, backup your database, and your audio and images directories, and
ESPECIALLY your configuration file (which may be at podhawk/custom/config.php
or may be in the directory above the root of your PodHawk installation).

##############################################################

If you are upgrading from PodHawk 1.62:

Replace the 'podhawk/inc/' directory and everything in it.

Replace the 'podhawk/smarty/templates/' directory and everything in it.

	Replace 'podhawk/backend/functions.js'

Add the new directory 'plugins' and its contents in the 'podhawk/custom/' directory

	Replace 'podhawk/lang/english.php'

	Replace 'podhawk/uploadify/uploadify.php' and 'podhawk/uploadify/uploadify_functions.js'

	Replace 'podhawk/initialise.php'

Replace 'podhawk/timthumb/timthumb.php'; remove 'podhawk/timthumb/.htaccess' (no longer needed).

	Replace rewrite.php (in root directory)

In your theme, in the podhawk/custom/themes/ directory

		- replace head.tpl
		- replace posting_title.tpl
		- replace index.tpl (or, remove the references to posting_share_this.tpl
and add the section 'Javascript from plugins' near the end)
		- delete posting_share_this.tpl (no longer needed - there is a new plugin for Share This)

If you use the JW Player, you should upgrade to the latest version. PodHawk 1.7 supports JW Player 5.
Download the zip file from the Long Tail Video site (http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-flv-player/),
replace player.swf and yt.swf (in podhawk/custom/players/jwplayer) with the new versions.

###############################################################
if you are upgrading from Podhawk 1.61 or PodHawk 1.6, also replace/add the following files:

podhawk/facebook - replace the whole directory. If you are using PodHawk to run a
Facebook application, you need to go to the backend "settings" page and add
two futher items of information to the Facebook section. This is
so that PodHawk can use the new Facebook authorisation procedure.

podhawk/helperapps - install this directory and its contents if you are running Podhawk
on a Windows server. The helperapps files are needed to ensure that the getid3
programme can run properly in a Windows environment. If you have a Unix/Linux server,
you do not need to install the helperapps directory.

##############################################################
If you are upgrading from an earlier version than PodHawk 1.6:

Replace everything in the 'podhawk' directory with the new directories and files,
EXCEPT for the configuration file (podhawk.custom/config.php)
and any template files in 'podhawk/custom/themes/' which you have adapted specially for your site.

################### END OF INSTRUCTIONS FOR REPLACING FILES #############################

PLEASE now read the new sections in the PodHawk wiki about security.
It is now possible to run your PodHawk site without world-writeable (0777) directories.
None of the changes suggested are compulsory, but they will enhance the security of your site.

Finally, go to your admin pages. PodHawk will automatically update your
database and settings.

How to convert your LoudBlog installation to PodHawk 1.61
###########################################################

One :

in case you make a mistake and accidentally delete something important,
back-up your LoudBlog database and audio files (in the audio/ directory).

Two :

this is IMPORTANT. Find the file loudblog/custom/config.php and back it up on your desktop computer.
Then make another copy, just to be sure.

Three :

backup anything else which you may need in PodHawk e.g. images used in your postings
or in your template. This is important, because the following steps may delete them.

Four :

from the PodHawk files, upload the folder 'podhawk' and all its contents to your LoudBlog site.
Place it in the root directory (ie alongside the 'loudblog', 'audio' and 'upload' folders).

Five :

replace the following loudblog files (in the root directory) with the podhawk
files with the same name:
	get.php
	index.php
	podcast.php
	.htaccess

If you do not already have a directory "images/" in the root directory, create it.

Add these files to the root directory:
	rewrite.php
	install.php
	xd_receiver.htm
	xd-receiver.html (which is empty!)

Six :

run the install.php programme ('your-site-url/install.php') and select
'Convert an existing LoudBlog installation to PodHawk' on page 1.

Seven :
- after installation, delete install.php from your site.

Eight :
- check that your new PodHawk site works. Then delete the 'loudblog' directory and its contents from the root directory.
